World Series of Parker · Event 4-3
Warren Mervin Ends the Streak
Eric Denny had won four World Series events in a row. He went out sixth.
Cards down at 6:19 in the evening, last hand just after midnight: a double-elimination bracket that took five hours and fifty-three minutes to settle eight players. Warren Mervin won it for $140 — the third World Series of Parker event he has ever entered, and the first he has won.
He had played one in 2018 and one in April, and finished fifth in both. On Friday he put out Andrew Shier just after eleven and then Sean Denny at 12:12 in the morning to take it.
Sean took $80 for second, comfortably his best World Series result in three attempts — he had a seventh and a fourth in 2023 to show for the other two. Andrew was third for $60, back-to-back thirds after April and his seventh top-three finish in seventeen World Series events.
How it came apart for the favorite
Eric Denny arrived having won four consecutive World Series events — the last two of 2023 and both of 2025 so far — and left in sixth, three and a half hours in. Steve Sarbaugh put him out, the second of Steve's two eliminations on the night after he had sent Sam Cain home an hour earlier.
Steve went on to fourth, beaten by Andrew at 10:47. Lance Cain was fifth, also beaten by Andrew, having earlier accounted for Jeff Ferguson. Jeff finished seventh and Sam Cain eighth in the only World Series event he has played.
Where the money went

|---|---|---|
| 1 | Warren Mervin | $140 |
| 2 | Sean Denny | $80 |
| 3 | Andrew Shier | $60 |
The undercard
Nobody was eliminated for the first two and a half hours — the arithmetic of double elimination, where a beaten player goes to the losers' side rather than home. Sam Cain was the first to run out of second chances at 8:57, and after that they went at a steady clip: Jeff Ferguson at 9:15, Eric at 9:54, Lance at 10:01, Steve Sarbaugh at 10:47, Andrew at 11:16, and Sean at 12:12 the following morning.
The bigger picture
Three events down, two to go, and Eric still leads on 95.43 — thirty-five clear, because a sixth place out of eight costs less than four wins are worth. Warren's win lifts him to fourth, within two points of second.
