How Scoring Works
Tournament Points
Every player earns points at every tournament they play. There is no minimum finish and no cutoff — last place scores, and the points go up as players are knocked out.
- entrants The number of players who bought into that tournament.
- rebuys The total rebuys taken by everyone that night, not just yours. A busy rebuy period makes the night worth more to every player in it.
- finish Your final place. First is 1, second is 2, and so on.
- rebuy penalty Applied only if you personally rebought. See below.
The rebuy penalty
A player who rebuys keeps competing for the same prize pool, so their point total for that night is reduced. The size of that reduction changed for the 2027 season:
- Through the 2026 season — 20%. A player who rebought kept 80% of their points (multiply by 0.80).
- From the 2027 season — 5%. A player who rebought keeps 95% of their points (multiply by 0.95).
Each member gets one rebuy per tournament, before the end of the second break (By-Laws § V.3), so the penalty applies at most once. If you did not rebuy, no penalty applies to you no matter how many rebuys the rest of the table took — and those rebuys still raise your score, because they count toward the field size above.
A Worked Example
Tournament #58, August 2026. Eighteen players entered and three rebuys were taken across the night, so the top of the fraction is 18 + 3 = 21 for everyone. Warren Mervin won it:

Rebought that night, so the 2026 penalty applied. Notice that Angela Cain finished 9th but scored 16.80, below Josh Reel’s 17.50 in 11th — that is the 20% penalty at work. Under the 2027 rule the same finish would have scored 19.95 and stayed ahead.
Player of the Year
Points are accrued at every tournament you play, but only your best eight scores count toward Player of the Year. Anything beyond your top eight is dropped. That rule is unchanged for 2027.
Playing more than eight events is still worth doing: every extra night is another chance to replace one of your weaker scores. The Player of the Year receives free entry into The Annual.
Tournament of Champions
The Tournament of Champions closes the season, and the field is capped at ten players.
- Win a regular-season tournament and you are in. One win is enough, and it does not matter where you finish in the season standings.
- Repeat winners open a seat for someone else. If a player wins more than one tournament in a season, that extra win does not take a second seat. It goes instead to the highest-ranked player in the final season standings who has not won. Two repeat winners means the next two ranked players without a win get in, and so on.
The field can be smaller than ten, because qualifying does not oblige you to play. Do not read a past field as the full list of that season’s winners — some winners did not attend. The most recent one is the 2025 Tournament of Champions; earlier years are under Results in the menu above.
The Points Distribution Grid
The Points Distribution page shows what each finish is worth at each field size. Read it as a reference, not as a prediction: that grid assumes zero rebuys, and most nights have some. Real scores are usually a little higher than the grid, because rebuys enlarge the pool for everyone.
