Juan Lopez

Nobody in Eight Deuce finishes a tournament faster than Juan Lopez. His four heads-up wins in the league average 7:29, the quickest of any player, and at #25 in May 2023 he closed one out in one minute and forty-two seconds — the shortest heads-up match in Eight Deuce history. Juan does not negotiate at the end.

Getting there is the long part. His average Eight Deuce night runs 3:44:54, the longest of any player — he is nearly always still there when the field is down to a handful.

He has 6 wins from 56 events across all tracks. The first was Canterberry #117 in January 2020 — twenty-two players, seven knockouts, $245 for first. Four more came in the Eight Deuce regular season — #20 in October 2022, #25 in May 2023, #32 in February 2024 for $480, and #57 in July 2026 against eighteen runners — before he took down the 2026 Tournament of Champions in October, knocking out five of the nine qualifiers and beating Shawn Miller in an eight-minute heads-up for $505, the biggest payday of his career.

On the regular-season through-line he runs second in both scoring average, 27.07 points a tournament, and prize money per start, $74 — behind only Shawn Miller, who passed him on both at #59.

The Annual has been kind: three appearances, three cashes, $1,060 in prize money. Add his runner-up finish at the 2022 Tournament of Champions and his 2026 trophy, and eight years in he has 23 cashes, $5,600 in career prize money, and the trophy that used to be the one thing missing from the shelf.
